Buford Devers

Buford Warren Devers, 90, of Savannah, died Wednesday June 23, at Hardin Medical Center.

He was born June 21, 1920, in Lawrence County, Tenn., the son of the late Joseph Cicero Devers and Maude Woods Devers. On Jan. 13, 1990, he was united in marriage to Lydia Murphy Devers, who survives.

Mr. Devers was a retired truck driver for Pulaski Highway Express, Inc. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

Services were held Friday June 25, at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Nashville.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia Devers; son, James B. (Estelle) Devers of Waynesboro; sister, Lona B. Carr of Michigan; stepchildren, Phebe (Wayne) Thompson, Sue (Johnny) Smith, Boyd (Shelley) Murphy and Doyle Murphy; granddaughters, Stephanie Pearson and Jennifer (Nate) Clark; great granddaughters, Kaylee and Abigail Pearson; seven step-grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Christine Wharton Devers; four brothers; Hugh, Jim, Ralph and Charles Devers and five sisters; Anna Lou Ricketts, Delia Shull, Emma Jo Griffin, Lucille Morris and Dena Pulley.
