Ella Whitt (5-20-10) services 5-24-10

Ella D. Whitt, 75, of Mishawaka, Ind., died during Thursday, May 20, after a long illness.

She was born in Savannah, daughter of the late Horace and Julia Mitchell Franks. She was united in marriage to Robert E. Whitt, who preceded her in death. The couple had raised five children.

Services were held Monday, May 24, at Bubb Funeral Chapel with burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Mishawaka, Ind.

She was employed at Uniroyal for nearly 37 years before retiring.

She is survived by two daughters, Julia Armstrong and Lisa Whitt; three sons, Randy, Ronnie and Robert Dean; four granddaughters and three grandsons; and one great-grandson; two sisters, Mary Tune of Mishawaka, Ind. and Reba Reynolds of Savannah, and many nieces and nephews.

The family is asking, in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made in Ella’s memory to CurePSP, Executive Plaza III, 11350 McCormick Road, Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD.

The organization is dedicated to finding a cure for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, the rare disease that took Ella’s independence the past few years and ultimately her life.
