J.C. Pickens (5-21-10) services 5-24-10

J.C. Pickens, 80, of Savannah, died Friday, May 21.

He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Bid and Ettie Mae Mitchell Pickens. He was united in marriage to Helen Louise Parrish, who survives.

Mr. Pickens worked for the Hardin County Board of Education as a custodian and was a member of the Nixon Pentecostal Church.

Services were held on Monday, May 24, at Nixon Pentecostal Church in Savannah with John Robinson officiating. Burial was in the Pyburn Cemetery at Savannah.

In addition to his wife, Helen Pickens, he is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Thomas of Savannah; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Hassel and Lige Pickens, both of Savannah, and Melvin Pickens of Hammond, Ind.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ross and Curt Pickens.
