Herbert Parson

Herbert Parson, of Michie, was born in Hardin County on Dec. 11, 1922, the son of the late John Allen and Maggie Hindman Parson.

On March 8, 1946, he was united in marriage to Cletie Verine Milligan, who survives.

Mr. Parson retired from the State of Tennessee at Pickwick Golf Course and he was also a farmer. Mr. Parson was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Mr. Parson enjoyed sharpening knives and working with his tractor. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Parson departed this life on Thursday, March 25, in Michie, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 14 days.

In addition to his wife, Cletie Verine Parson of Michie, he is survived by one son, Leslie Parson and his wife Kathryn of Michie; and four daughters, Loraine Spencer and her husband Dennis of Michie, Dora Jane Hill and her husband Frank of Gulfport, Miss., Carolyn Allred and her husband James of Counce, and Kay Chessor and her husband Pat of Michie; five grandchildren, Paige Seay, Maranda Chessor, Stephanie Hill, Jason Spencer and Angela Hill Riley; three great-grandchildren, Jessie Seay, Jonathan Riley and Lily Grace Spencer; two sisters, Virginia Terry of Shiloh and Maudie Milligan of Counce; and one brother, Roy Parson of Counce.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Parson was preceded in death by three brothers, Hobert, Arbie and James Parson; and two sisters, Reba Alexander and Dora Parson.

Services were held on Saturday, March 27, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Acton Chapel in Acton, Tenn., with Marvin Norris, Rex McGee and Jason Spencer officiating. Burial was in the Center Hill Cemetery at Counce.
