James Hodge

James Homer Hodge was born in Hardin County, Tenn. on Jan. 16, 1936, the son of the late James Homer and Myrtle Handley Hodge.

He married the former Mary Jo Walker who preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 1997.

James Homer was a member of the Second Baptist Church. He was a retired grocer and liked working with cattle. Mr. Hodge was a Navy Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He departed from this life Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn., at the age of 74 years and 28 days.

He leaves two grandchildren, Patrick Landreth and Mindy Causpin; one sister, Annie Jean Harrison of Savannah; two step-daughters, Mary Beth Henry of Ohio and Janice Walker of Clifton.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Landreth; one brother, Joe Payton Hodge; and three sisters, Katherine Williams, Virginia Shutt and Robbie House.

Services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Ed Alexander officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
