Burbon Haggard

Burbon Polk Haggard, 85, of Savannah, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Hardin Home Nursing Home, where she had resided for the past 10 years.

She was born in Hardin County, daughter of the late Nathan Perry Polk and Gladys McCallum Polk. She was united in marriage to Herschel F. Haggard, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Haggard worked for 37 years in garment factories: at Dillion Manufacturing Company, Kay Windsor, Angelica, and as a supervisor at Savannah Manufacturing Company before her retirement.

Services were held on Friday, Feb. 5, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Dan Williams, Josh Stults officiating. Burial was in the Shady Hill Cemetery at Hardin County.

She is survived by her son, Tommy F. Haggard, of Savannah; and her daughter, Shirley Williams of Bolton, Mass.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Holly Farris Polk and James K. Polk.
