Francis Boroughs

Francis Adams Smith Boroughs, of Clifton, was born in Decatur County, Tenn., on Jan. 10, 1924, the daughter of the late Albert and Hannah Kyle Adams.

Mrs. Boroughs was employed with Clifton Manufacturing Company for 35 years as a machine operator before retiring. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clifton, and a loyal volunteer for the Clifton Chamber of Commerce.

Mrs. Boroughs departed this life at her home in Clifton on Friday, Jan. 15, at the age of 86 years, 5 days.

She is survived by three daughters, Robbin Jones and husband Joe, Doris Halford and husband James, Teresa Walker and husband Jean, all of Clifton; two granddaughters, Christy Howard of Clawson, Mich. and Tonya Ricketts of Clifton; two stepsons; six step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four sisters; two brothers; one sister-in-law; a very dear friend, Marion Davis.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Boroughs was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Walter Smith in 1980; her second husband, Montie Ward Boroughs in 1995; a stepson, Jimmy Boroughs; a brother, Hermie Adams; two sisters, Pauline Pullie and Earline Adams; a grandchild, Jeffrey Joe Jones.

Services were held on Monday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Dave Boroughs, Ronnie Wilburn officiating. Burial was in the Prater’s Chapel Cemetery at Wayne County.
