My Week With Marilyn

Marilyn Monroe’s Menacing Moments and Her Splendid Scenes
My Week with Marilyn, R, ****, Michelle Williams, Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh, Dominic Cooper, Julia Osmond. The Weinstein Company.Director Simon Curtis. Length: 101 minutes.

Anyone who has a love for movies or an infatuation with Marilyn Monroe’s life should not miss this outstanding film about spending a week with Marilyn Monroe. It is based on a true event taken from the diary of Colin Clark. Clark was a writer and filmmaker in Great Britain. He wanted to work in the entertainment business, and he convinced the directors to hire him to help with the movie “The Prince and the Showgirl.”
While working on this movie starring Marilyn Monroe and Sir Lawrence Oliver he became friends with Marilyn Monroe. Oliver also directed the film. The movie was filmed in Great Britain. The year was 1956.
Marilyn was married to Arthur Miller during that time. Miller was so frustrated with Marilyn he returned to the states.
The audience briefly meets Viven Leigh and a few other celebrities along with other actors during that time period. It seems to be a fact that Marilyn was hard to work with on movie sets. She was always late and moody.
However, this film gives the audience a look into why she was so emotional. Her childhood was sad which might explain her behavior later in life. She had an acting coach with her all the time, because she was a student of method acting. She wanted to become the character.
This did not set well with Oliver especially her moods and being late all the time. She kept the entire crew waiting and slowed production. With all of Oliver’s frustrations, it was obvious he was enamored with her and certainly under her magic charm.
However, as has been said about her, “When she got the scene right, it was authentic and she was charismatic.” “The audience could not keep their eyes off of her.” Marilyn had her demons. She was frustrated with lots of idiosyncrasies. The film shows her troubles, triumphs, and depression. When she was at her best, the camera devoured her.
The movie showed the problems with Oliver trying to get the film finished, and the troubles of everyone who was around Marilyn. Her charismatic personality, good looks, and moods seem to break the hearts of everyone who was in contact with her.
