Horrible Bosses
Bawdy Raunchy Bosses Take It to the LimitHorrible Bosses, R, ***1/2, Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston, Jason Dudeikis, Charlie Day, Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell. Director Seth Gordon. Length: 100 minutes.
This movie is one raunchy romp through laughter in the “den of iniquity.” It is necessary to warn the audience about what to expect. Having said that, laugh out loud comedy antics will hit the viewer with machine gun momentum as the story progresses. Just be prepared.
Let’s meet the “Horrible Bosses.” Dave Harken (Kevin Spacey) gives Nick (Jason Bateman) a difficult time. Nick wants to move up the corporate ladder. However, it seems that Dave is greedy, cruel, and dangerous.
Dr. Harris (Jennifer Aniston) is a dentist. Her assistant is Dale (Charlie Day). Dr. Harris sexually harasses Dale who is about to be married. Aniston’s role in this movie is not exactly family friendly - to say the least.
Bobby Pellitt (Colin Farrell) has just become the boss of the company. His dad Donald Sutherland) passed away and Bobby is the new boss. Unfortunately, he did not take after his father. He is a bad boss.
Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) was going to be the next in line, but the death of Bobby’s dad happened before the promotion took place.
The three bosses have different means of harassing, but each one is definitely persecution unless an exception is made for Dr. Harris. No pun intended - I mean Dr. Harris is Jennifer Aniston.
I must admit that I laughed out loud on many occasions while viewing this movie. The punch lines fall out of the sky with hilarious intensity.
Nick, Dale, and Kurt are good friends. After work they discuss their situations and decide that their bosses must be murdered. They do not have the expertise to do this, so they decide to find someone to take care of this problem.
The three begin to look in some shady places for a coconspirator to do their dirty work. They meet Jones (Jamie Foxx). To learn his first name, the reader will have to watch the movie. He gives them some advice, but it is not really what they had in mind.
The three friends, or in this case the three stooges, start their plot to eliminate their bosses. The movie slowly becomes funny, and after the three meet Jones, it becomes hilarious.
From breaking and entering, to drug use, and having to explain themselves to law officers, the laughter drops comedic lines like a summer shower. Wendell Pierce from the HBO series “Treme” plays one of the detectives that question the three would-be-murders.
With plenty of comedic antics, some slapstick, and a lot of blunt over-the-top language, “Horrible Bosses” will take the audience on an adventure that cannot be easily forgotten.
Just be warned before entering the theater it will be in the category of uncivilized humor much like “The Hangover.” I predict we will have an opportunity to observe a sequel of “Horrible Bosses,” just as we did with “The Hangover.”
If one decides to see this, just be prepared for shocking scenes.
