Sex in the City 2

Sex In An Extremely Conservative Arabic Culture
Sex in the City 2, R, ***, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cyntia Nixon, Chris Noth, John Corbett. New Line Cinema film. Director Michael Patrick King. Length 146 minutes.
From politically correct themes, jealousy among married couples, and promiscuity, “Sex in the City 2” navigates many of the situations happening in society today. Liza Minnelli appears at the beginning dancing and singing at an unusual ceremony.
The movie then begins to focus on Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her husband Mr. Big (Chris North). He has settled into a sedated lifestyle watching television after a day at the office and ignoring Carrie’s needs.
They watch “It Happened One Night” which gives the audience a taste of old black and white movies and a classic scene in that movie. Carrie learns a lesson from the movie. This will give the audience a small look at how far movies have changed over the years.
The mundane life seems to have embraced Mr. Big while Carrie seems to need more excitement. He simple enjoys watching movies with Carrie.
Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) is a lawyer. She is very unhappy with her job and her boss. Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) is still the same Samantha. Promiscuous behavior is her goal. Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) is jealous, because she and her husband have a “knock out” Nanny that everyone stares at with enthusiasm including her husband.
Samantha is invited to Abu Dhabi with all expenses paid. Not a place Samantha should be visiting. However, she insists that her friends go along to keep her company. They can have several days together for gossip, chit chat, and mischief.
They all decide to go, and it is a luxurious vacation with all amenities paid for by the host. The audience gets a first hand look at the culture of the Abu Dhabi. The mores and culture of the Arabic people are very interesting. What can and cannot be done. How to act in public and places that may be shady all play a part in the excursions the four friends seek?
The wealth of Abu Dhabi is capitalized upon with lots of food, drink, and servants at the beckoning call of the four friends. It all appears to be a dream of a lifetime. However, just wait until things change. The four friends do not seem to be able to embrace the culture of Abu Dhabi. The reader can guess the individual that causes the most problems.
Another hitch in the situation happens when Aidan (John Corbett) and Carrie meet in a market place. Of course, Carrie thinks this is a sign since she is having trouble with Mr. Big. Aidan is an old boyfriend of Carries. I had to do some research to discover some history behind this scene. However, it is obvious when they meet a fire from the past existed. Aidan appeared to be an interesting character. I am sure the fans will understand the character much better than I did.
I have never seen the television program “Sex and the City.” I did see the first movie version. This outing seems better to me than the first movie. It had some very interesting lessons for married couples.
With relationships of various kinds and conflict among married couples and friends, the movie has plenty of over the top advice providing the audience with food for thought.
The audience will see Miley Cyrus, Penelope Cruz, and other celebrates pop up from time to time. Just take the movie for what it is and enjoy the story.
