J.C. "Jaybird" Stricklin, 73, of Savannah, died Thursday, Dec. 3, in Savannah.

He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Simon and Lina Wilkerson Stricklin.

Mr. Stricklin was a self-employed timber cutter.

Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Daniel Hicks officiating. Burial was in the Wilkerson Cemetery at Hardin County.

He is survived by his children, James Stricklin of Savannah, Lisa A. Cummings of Savannah and Teresa Nance of Florence, Ala.; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three brothers, Floyd "Pod", Odell and Reece Stricklin, all of Savannah; one sister, Martha "Mary" Stanford of Sardis, Tenn.

He was also preceded in death by one son who died at birth; and one sister, Margaret Stanfill.
