Bessie Lewis, 95, of Savannah, died Monday, Nov. 30, at the Hardin Medical Center, Savannah.

She was born in Darlington, S.C., the daughter of the late Lee Samuel and Mellisa Cooper Jackson. She was united in marriage to James Lewis, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Lewis retired from the dry cleaning business. She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Bath Springs, Tenn.

Services were held at Varick Memorial Church in Washington, DC. Burial was in the Maryland National Cemetery at Laurel, Md.

She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by 14 siblings, Annie Tillman, Ollie Jackson, Jelmar Jackson, Bessie Jackson, Sarah Woods, Pierce Jackson, Edward Jackson, Clavin Jackson, Elouise McClain, Connie Jackson, Vivian Jackson, Elsie Jackson, Glen Jackson and Lee Jackson.
