Charles Shepherd Charles "Shep" Shepherd, 83, of Crump, died Friday, Nov. 20. He was born in Tyronza, Ark., on Sept. 29, 1926. Shep served in WWII and the Korean War. After his military service, he lived in Memphis where he had a long and successful career in construction. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Crump where he could pursue his favorite interests–hunting and fishing. Shep never met a stranger and quickly became a part of the community. He is survived by his wife, Jewell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Robert Garrard of Germantown, Tenn., and Sharon and Tim Smith of Munford, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Michael Garrard of Savannah, Justin, Brandon and Jared Smith of Munford; five great-grandchildren, and seven brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by and infant daughter, Cheryl; a granddaughter, Kristi Garrard, and four brothers and sisters. A memorial service was held Sunday, Nov. 22, at Hopewell Baptist Church where he was an active member. Contibutions can be made to Hopewell in his honor.
