Nancy Dickerson Zavala, 72, of Savannah, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, in Savannah.
She was born in Corinth, Miss., the daughter of the late Elmer Leon Morris and Sally Pauline Broadway Morris-Cass. She was united in marriage to Jessie H. Dickerson, who preceded his wife in death. She was later united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Zavala, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Zavala was a homemaker. She had worked for Hughes Worm Ranch and Brown Shoe Company and she did baby-sitting at home. Mrs. Zavala was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and she was a member of Savannah Foursquare Church for over 50 years before becoming a member of New Life Pentecostal.
Services were held on Friday, Nov. 6, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Charles Pevahouse officiating. Burial was in the Savannah Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Gene and Terry Dickerson, both of Savannah; one stepdaughter, Sherry Zavala of Silsbee, Texas and two stepsons, Robert Zavala of Victoria, Texas and Scott Zavala of Vidor, Texas; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Jerrolds of Savannah; and three brothers, Don and Bill Morris, both of Crump, and Leon Morris of Savannah.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lonzo Fay "Johnny," William and Vernon Morris and two infant siblings.
