Loyd Ticer

Loyd Ticer was born July 15, 1926, in Wright, Ala., the son of the late Linus B. and Hettie Glasscock Ticer.

He was united in marriage to Geraldine Matheny, who preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2001.

In 1970, he moved to Hardin County and went to work for Savannah Glass as a glazer until he retired. He was a member of the Piney Grove Church of Christ and the VFW. Mr. Ticer enjoyed Country and Bluegrass music and playing guitar. He enjoyed his pets, fishing, his work at Savannah Glass, enjoyed teasing everyone, and his family. He was a US Army Air Force Veteran.

Mr. Ticer departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 24, in Savannah, at the age of 83 years, 3 months, 9 days.

He is survived by a daughter, Gayle Burgess and husband Danny of Whiteville, Tenn.; two sons, Lynn Ticer, Billy Ticer and wife Brenda all of Savannah; a sister, Evelyn Holk of Brownsburg, Ind.; two grandchildren, Christie Noblin, Heather Ashe and husband Scotty; Tyler Noblin, Aaron Noblin, Abagail Ashe and Ana Grace Ashe.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Ticer was preceded in death by a son, Tony Ticer; four brothers, Bill Ticer, L. V. Ticer, Roy E. Ticer, and Leroy Ticer; three sisters, Virginia McDaniel, Cynthia Ticer, and Murel Morris; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Oct. 27, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Donnie Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
