Wallace Goodlow (9-11-09)
Sergeant Major Wallace "Wally" N. Goodlow, U.S. Army Retired, of San Antonio, Texas, was born May 4, 1946, in Key West, Fla, to the late Eloise G. Austin and Isaac Nelson Goodlow, originally of Savannah.
On Sept. 11, at the age of 63, Wallace lost his battle to cancer.
He attended Frederick Douglass High School, where in 1964 he graduated as Salutatorian. He attended Morehouse College. He enlisted in the Army, to serve his country during the Vietnam War, where he earned numerous medals.
He was united for the first time with his relatives in Savannah when he visited for Thanksgiving in 2008, and met his three aunts and hundreds of his cousins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Julie; son Andre, daughter Natasha, daughter Diana and two grandchildren, his great-uncle Willard D. Nix of Key West, three aunts Lula M. McClellan of Counce and Bernice E. Hopson of Savannah, and Mildred Rushing of Chicago, a nephew, three nieces, five great-nephews, four great-nieces and a great-great-niece, a host of cousins, friends, colleagues and loving students.
