Tom Rogers (10-5-09) services 10-8-09

Tom Rogers, 60, of Savannah, died Monday, Oct. 5, at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. He was born in Kannapolis, N.C., the son of Billy Ray Rogers and the late Dorothy Mae Joynes Rogers. He was united in marriage to Nina Jean Reynolds, who survives. Mr. Rogers was retired owner and operator of Avionics West Inc. in Santa Maria, Calif. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a disaster relief volunteer for Southern Baptist Convention. He did local missions work and he was active in Media Ministry at Hopewell Baptist Church. Mr. Rogers was also a HAM radio operator. Services will be held today, Thursday, Oct. 8, at 5:30 p.m., at Hopewell Baptist Church in Savannah with Rev. Randy Isbell, Johnny Wilson officiating. In addition to his wife, Nina of Savannah, he is survived by one daughter, Dawn Spry of Kannapolis, N.C.; one son, Tommy Rogers of Concord, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Kathi Lynne Pifer of Kingman, Ariz.; one stepson, Douglas Foreman of Sutter Creek, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his father, Billy Ray Rogers of Kannapolis, N.C.; one brother, Steve Rogers of China Grove, N.C.
