Rosie Jane Highland Kooken, 78, of Savannah, died Saturday, Oct. 10, in Savannah. She was born in Waterloo, Ala., the daughter of the late Joe Robert and Cynthia Elizabeth Gibbs Highland. She was united in marriage to Alvin Kooken who preceded her in death. Services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Lane Johnson Family Cemetery in Hardin County, with David Highland officiating. Burial was in the Lane Johnson Family Cemetery at Hardin County. She is survived by a daughter, Martha Sue Johnson of Savannah; a sister, Rena Elizabeth DeShazier of Savannah; a grandchild. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, John, Rossie, Richard, Rubin, Neat, Saul and Cliff "Rip" Highland.
