Roberta McCasland (7-20-09) services 7-26-09

Roberta McCasland, 99, of Hardin County, died Monday, July 20, in Fairview Heights, Ill. She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Benjamin Norris and Sarah Wade Duke. She was united in marriage to Melrose McCasland, who preceded her in death. Mrs. McCasland was a member of Fairview Heights Church of Christ where she was a Bible school teacher for many years. She was instrumental in researching the family’s genealogy. Services will be held on Sunday, July 26, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Tracy Love officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy McCasland of Fairview Heights, Ill. and Nita Brown of Prairie Village, Kan.; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Rainey of Savannah. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Elita M. Owen; and seven brothers, Gilbert, Walt, Benjamin, Frank, Herschel, Erschel and James “Ted” Duke.
