Mary Frances Freeman (8-22-09) services 8-25-09
Mary Frances Ross Freeman of Counce was born in Davidson County, Tenn., on June 28, 1932, the daughter of the late Calvin and Mary Ross.
On Aug. 30, 1950, she was united in marriage to Alton Ray Freeman, who preceded her in death on July 11, 1986.
Mrs. Freeman was a homemaker, loving mother, wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Counce. She wrote the Counce News article for The Courier for many years and loved it. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and taking care of her dog "Uggie."
Mrs. Freeman enjoyed working with children at FBC, where she helped with the WASP after-school program. She taught beginners Sunday school class for 25 years. She was a wonderful teacher and loved all her "church babies" just like family.
Mrs. Freeman departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the age of 77 years, 1 month, 24 days.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Vernon "Wheely" Miller of Morris Chapel, Denise and Bill Easter of Savannah; three grandchildren, Jyssica Nowlin, Tara Easter Landis and her husband Jon, and Rhiannon Rae Easter; one step-granddaughter, Veronica Black; one great-grandson, Josiah Landis, a very special young man, Korey Goodman, three nieces, one nephew, and very special friends, Jim and Ann Young.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Robinson; one brother, Calvin "Buddy" Ross, and one infant son, Alton Richard Freeman.
Services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 4 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Counce, with Dr. Bill Darnell and Rev. Bill Easter officiating. Special music was provided by 4Joy. Burial was in the Center Hill Cemetery in Hardin County.
A memorial fund for Mrs. Freeman has been opened at Hardin County Bank to assist with medical bills.
