Mary Alexander (4-8-09)

Mary Helen Alexander, 82, of Savannah, died Wednesday, April 8. She was born in Centerville, Ind., on June 11, 1926, the daughter of the late Elbert and Julia Andrews. She was united in marriage to Robert Alexander, who preceded her in death. Ms. Alexander was a member of the Greensfork United Methodist Church and had attended the First Assembly Church of God in Savannah. Funeral arrangements are being completed by Doan and Mills Funeral Home in Centerville, Ind. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org. She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Stevenson of Oolitic, Ind. and Melissa Murphy of Fort Worth, Texas; two sons, Rev. Todd Alexander of Nashville and Erin Alexander of Savannah; a sister, Nan Riech of Chicago, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Brian Alexander; and six brothers.
