Letha Brown (8-22-09) services 8-29-09

Letha Leona Brown of Sardis, Tenn.,was born in Hardin County on Aug. 19, 1916, the daughter of the late Newt and Florence Marshall Creasy. Mrs. Brown was married to William “Bill” Phillips until his death and on Aug. 5, 1950, she was united in marriage to Adam Brown, who preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1989. Mrs. Brown was a member Sinner’s Hope Church. She was a resident of Sardis, Tenn. and a former resident of the Lebanon Community near Saltillo. She had worked for Brown Shoe Company, but had mostly worked as a baby-sitter, taking care of many children. She was an outstanding mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Brown enjoyed gardening, going to church and visiting with friends. Mrs. Brown departed this life on Saturday, Aug.22, at the age of 93 years, 3 days. Mrs. Brown is survived by two daughters, Faye Phillips of Sacramento, Calif. and Wanda Phillips of Mexico City, Mexico; a brother, Clifford Creasy of Collinsville, Ill.; grandchildren, Sharon Scott Hagy, Terri Scott, Melissa Flannigan, and 11 other grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Sue Phillips; a son, Tommy Ray Phillips; a brother, Arlee Creasy, and a grandson, Robert Scott. Services were held on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 1 p.m., at Sinner’s Hope Church in Hardin County, with Lloyd Blankenship officiating. Burial was in the McBride Cemetery near Sardis, Tenn.
