Lanny Newman (4-3-09) services 4-5-09

Lanny Newman, 63, of Adamsville, died Friday, April 3, at the Regional Hospital in Jackson, Tenn. He was born in Hardin County, the son of Virginia Ann Hughes Pickens and the late Aulsey Edward Newman. He was united in marriage to Belinda Gail Coggins, who survives. Mr. Newman was a former towboat engineer. Memorial services were held on Sunday, April 5, at Shackelford Chapel in Adamsville with Gene Hanna officiating. In addition to his wife, Belinda of Adamsville, he is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Sharpe of Adamsville and Christy Shannon of Scotts Hill, Tenn.; two grandchildren; his mother, Virginia Ann Pickens of Adamsville; one sister, Cheryl Gibbs of Adamsville. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Clarence D. Pickens; and two brothers, Billy Norris Brooks and Gary Kimball Pickens.
