Jerry "Snuffy" Smith (6-9-09) services 6-11-09

Jerry Neal "Snuffy" Smith departed this life on Tuesday, June 9, at the age of 68 years, 3 months, 14 days. He was born Feb. 26, 1941, in Milledgeville, the son of Dorothy Singleton Smith and the late Ila B. Smith. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Bridges on June 15, 1963. For 45 years he worked for PCA in Counce as a crew leader. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Fraternal Order of the Free Masons, Sons of the Confederate Veterans and the Milledgeville City Council, where he served on the cemetery committee. He enjoyed driving his tractors while working on the farm, hunting with family and friends, fishing on the Tennessee River, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Ann Smith; his mother, Dorothy Smith both of Milledgeville; his sister, Connie Stephens and husband Bruce of Savannah; two daughters, Amy Smith of Sardis, Tenn. and Lisa Ozier and husband Sammy of Milledgeville; a son, Perry Neal Smith and wife Allison of Milledgeville. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Sarah Yager, Dylan Yager, Amber Ozier, Hunter Dickey, Calvin Smith, Will Smith, Sybil Smith, and David Yager Jr. Jerry was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He had a heart as big as the heavens themselves and graciously helped those in need. He will be missed by all. Services was held on Thursday, June 11, at 3 p.m., at Milledgeville United Methodist Church in Milledgeville, with David Simmons, Jimmy Dyer, Lloyd Blankenship, Phil Bridges, Sonny Pitts officiating. Burial will follow in the Milledgeville Cemetery at Milledgeville.
