James Prater (6-4-09) services 6-8-09

James C. Prater, 74, of Corinth, Miss., formerly of Savannah, died Thursday, June 4, at Corinth, Miss. He was the son of the late King and Lillian Prine Prater. He was united in marriage to Alice Prater, who survives. Mr. Prater retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service, which included service in the Vietnam and Korean conflicts. He was a member of the Northside Church of Christ. Graveside services were held on Monday, June 8 at Corinth National Cemetery with full military honors, with Lennis Norwell officiating. In addition to his wife, Alice of Corinth, he is survived by a daughter, Patty Majors of Savannah; a sister, Dorothy Harris of Savannah; and a grandson. Memorials may be made to Hardin County Cancer Society, c/o Robin Smith at Central Bank, Savannah.
