James Ganus (4-12-09) services 4-15-09

James F. Ganus, 89, of Hardin County, died Sunday, April 12. He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late James Franklin and Sarah Catherine Harris Ganus. He was united in marriage to Mary Jane Plunk, who survives. Mr. Ganus worked as farmer until enlisting with the Army and serving in World War II. He spent 18 months over seas in Germany, England, Belgium, France, and Holland. He then began carpentry work and retired from Yellow Creek in 1981. He was a member of the Crump Senior Citizens and the Christian Assembly United Pentecostal Church. He taught Sunday school, served as a board member, and as an usher. Services were held on Wednesday, April 15, at Christian Assembly United Pentecostal Church in Adamsville with Billy White, W.D. McCollum officiating. Burial was in the Crump Cemetery. In addition to his wife, Mary Jane, he is survived by a sister, Fannie K. Ganus Fierce of Crump; a brother, Evan F. Ganus of Morris Chapel; and several nephews and nieces. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Charley, Roy, Erby and Uley Ganus; three sisters, Della Hopper, Hester Stewart, and Mollie Miller.
