Gloria Ray (4-24-09) services 4-27-09

Gloria Dorothy Brown Ray, 81, of Clifton, died Friday, April 24, at Hardin Medical Center. She was born in Berwick, Penn., the daughter of the late Harris Brown and Flora Cragel Brown Sampsell. She was united in marriage to Ben Hooper Ray, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Ray was a military wife for many years as her husband served in the U.S. Navy more than 21 years. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Goshen Primitive Baptist Church in Linden, Tenn. Services were held Monday, April 27, at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Waynesboro with Jerry McMinn officiating. Burial was in the Prater’s Chapel Cemetery at Clifton with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County in charge of arrangements. She is survived by a daughter, Dollie Buczynski of Toms River, N.J.; a son, Ben Harris Ray of Savannah; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley (Brown) Trough of Georgia. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Bradley Ray and an infant daughter; Karen Yvonne Ray; and her stepfather, Joseph Sampsel.
