Gladys Parnell (5-13-09) services 5-14-09

Gladys Parnell was born in Hardin County, on May 2, 1917, the daughter of the late Charlie R. and Dorothy Ann Bullard Thomas. Ms. Parnell had lived in the Counce area all of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Counce and the Home Demonstration Club. Ms. Parnell enjoyed decorating and babysitting. She was active in church activities and volunteered in the church nursery. Ms. Parnell departed this life on Wednesday, May 13, at the age of 92 years, 11 days. Ms. Parnell is survived by a daughter, Jerrie Parnell Prentis and her husband Joe of Counce; a granddaughter, Stephanie Prentis; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted S. Parnell on Nov. 13, 1981; two brothers, Elbert Thomas and Lee Thomas; a nephew, Greg Thomas. Services were held on Thursday, May 14, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Bill Darnell officiating. Burial was in the White Sulphur Cemetery at Pickwick Dam.
