Earnest Scott (8-26-09) services 8-28-09

Earnest V. Scott, 89, of Savannah, died Wednesday, Aug. 26. He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Eli and Ruth Smith Scott. Mr. Scott was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II. He retired from the City of Savannah Sanitation Department as a sanitation worker. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. Services were held on Friday, Aug. 28, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Billy Joe Stewart officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah. Mr. Scott is survived by two stepdaughters, Alma Taylor of Savannah and Gloria Mae Bowen of LaGrange, Ga.; two brothers, Marion of Savannah and Merideth Scott of Killeen, Texas; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Shook Scott; a sister, Nelly Rinks; three brothers, Loyd, Cecil and Thomas Scott.
