David Shy (7-15-09) 7-17-09
David Shy, of Savannah, was born in Hannibal, Mo. on Feb. 22, 1945, the son of the late Albert D. and Greta Messick Shy.
On Nov. 25, 1994, he was united in marriage to Judy Rowland, who survives.
Mr. Shy retired from Clayton Mobile Homes of Savannah. He was a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Shy lived in Hardin County for 15 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Mr. Shy departed this life on Wednesday, July 15, in Savannah, at the age of 64 years, 4 months and 23 days.
Other than his wife Judy of Savannah, he is survived by one daughter, Tara Shy of Flagstaff, Ariz.; three step-children, Vince Culver of Springfield, Ohio, Tammie Culver of Savannah and Crystal Burns of Savannah; two grandchildren, Bret and Kayla and six step-grandchildren, Jacob, Nicki, Anderson, Jaron, Chase and Jada; six sisters, Shirley Cummings of Holladay, Tenn., Delores Harrison of Sante Fe, Mo., Darlene Shy of New London, Mo., Marilyn Berghager of Hannibal, Mo., Donna Hickman of Bowling Green, Mo. and Debbie Lemon of Anniston, Ala.
Other than his parents, Mr. Shy was also preceded in death by one son, John David Shy, two sisters, Jean Hulsey and Wanda Leake and two brothers, John E. Shy and Larry F. Shy.
Services were held on Friday, July 17, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with James Fitts officiating. Burial was in the Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
