Capt. Melvin Harville (6-11-09) services 6-13-09

Capt. Melvin L. Harville age 79 of Metropolis, Ill. passed away at his home on June 11, at 11 a.m. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 13, at 1 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Brother David Wright officiating. Burial was in the Hillerman Baptist Church Cemetery, with Military Graveside rites. He is survived by his wife Ethel (King) Harville; two daughters, Margaret (Sissy) Kommer and husband Leroy of West Paducah, Ky., Melanie Barnett and husband Jerry of Hillerman Ill.; two sons, Melvin Harville Jr. and wife Teresa and Myron Harville both of Joppa, Ill.; two sisters, Virginia Smith and Thelma McDonald; and one brother, Jack Harville all of Savannah; five grandchildren, Jennifer Burnett, Tracie Harville, Joey Barnett, Casey Hodge, and Paige Harville; five great-grandchildren, Chaney and Andy Sutton, Mariah, Austin, and Luke Barnett; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ollie Jane (Price) Harville, one grandson, Damon Lynn Harvile, one sister, Edith Harville Sandusky, one brother, Bill Harville.  He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and was a retired towboat captain. Pall Bearers were Leroy Kommer, Jim Anderson, Jerry Barnett, Joey Barnett, Danny Burnett, Freeman McDonald.
