Artie Surratt (9-4-09) services 9-6-09

Artie Mae Jarrett Surratt, 95, of Adamsville, died Friday, Sept. 4, at McNairy County Health Care Center, Selmer. She was the daughter of the late John Silas and Neva White Jarrett. She was united in marriage to Buford Edmond Surratt, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Surratt was a former school teacher and beautician, and was retired from Garan Sportswear in Adamsville. She was a member of the Adamsville First Christian Church and was a former Hospital Auxiliary and RSVP volunteer. Services were held on Sunday, Sept. 6, at Adamsville First Christian Church with Gary Henline officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Memorial Garden, Adamsville. Arrangements were by Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer. She is survived by three daughters, Linda Foster of Memphis, Jane Taylor of Adamsville and Jo Parker of Hendersonville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Jarrett; a sister, Virginia Johnson, and two grandchildren.
