Wallace Layton
Wallace Layton was born in Hardin County, on Jan. 26, 1936, the son of the late G.W. and Lillie Plunk Layton.
On Aug. 16, 2001, he was united in marriage to Louise Katherine Hamm, who survives.
Mr. Layton departed this life on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the age of 72 years, 11 months, 19 days.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Layton is survived by two daughters, Darlene Bibb and husband Smiley of Locust Grove, Va. and Deborah Svensson and husband Eric of Bowman, N.C.; a sister, Exie Ruth Coker of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a brother, Hugh Layton of Graysville, Tenn.; a stepson, James R. Hamm and wife Cathy of Adamsville; two grandchildren, Taylor Ball and Kendrick Svensson; a step-grandchild, Lisa Shelby and husband Jessie; two step-great-grandchildren, Kaden Shelby and Kristan Shelby; a wonderful sister-in-law, Margaret Patton and her husband Earnest Patton; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Layton was preceded in death by two sisters, Avis Plumley and Vernell Adams; two brothers, Milburn Layton and William Layton.
Services were held on Jan. 16, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Greg Eaton, Marcus Morrow officiating. Burial was in the Ledbetter Cemetery at Hardin County.
