Muril Deatherage
Muril Dean Deatherage, 58, of Savannah, died on Thursday, March 12, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis.
Muril was born in Alcorn County, Miss., son of the late Charles and Juanita Booker Deatherage. He grew up in the Childers Hill Community in Counce. He married the former Carla Cromwell, who survives.
He was a retired employee of TVA with 32 years of service. Presently he was employed by Retiree Resource Corporation in Knoxville. Muril served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a camera technician and worked on B-52 airplanes. He served during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Sergeant.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Savannah. He attended the Cora Gene Miller Sunday School Class, sang in the Chancel Choir, served on various committees, and delivered Meals on Wheels.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and a past master of Lodge 102. He was also a past member of the Al Chymia Shrine in Memphis. He was very involved in the Raise the Flag Organization in Counce and served as an executive board member.
Services were held on Tuesday, March 17, at First United Methodist Church in Savannah, with Dr. Ed Britt, Rev. Will Wells officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Deatherage; three sons, Wade and Ryan Deatherage, both of Savannah, and Nathan Sevier of Enid, Okla.; three daughters, Michele Sevier of Savannah, Brandy DeLoach of Humboldt, Tenn. and Sherry Harris of Medina, Tenn.; and his sister, Joan Love of Counce.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Myron Edward Deatherage; and a sister, Patricia Ann Deatherage.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, at the Hardin County Library.
