Milton Shelby
Milton Shelby, 91, of Hardin County, died Friday, Jan. 2.
He was born in Hardin County, son of the late Clyde Walker and Mary Tucker Shelby.
Mr. Shelby worked at the Tax Assessor's Office mapping and measuring property. He had also worked at ASCS, Brown Shoe Company and as a farmer. He was a member of the Olivet Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Big Ivy Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Services were held Sunday, Jan. 4, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Duwayne Pounds officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
In addition to his wife, Louise Franks Shelby of Savannah, he is survived by a daughter, Cora Lou Montgomery of Florence, Ala; a son, James Milton Shelby Jr. of Savannah; three sisters, Lura Volnor of Millington, Tenn., Tera Irvin of Mountain View, Mo. and Edith Franks of Savannah; a brother, Clinton Shelby of Knoxville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Verlon Brown Shelby; his second wife, Janie Hinton Shelby; and a brother, Leonard Shelby.
