Melba Campbell

Melba Campbell, 83, of Saltillo, died Saturday, Feb. 21. She was born in Saltillo, the daughter of the late John Homer and Floia Estes Butler Bingham. She was united in marriage to Sloan Campbell, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Campbell was a retired mail order clerk for Sears in Memphis. She attended New Prospect Baptist Church in Hooker’s Bend community. Services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Rob Burns officiating. Burial was in the Shady Grove Cemetery at Saltillo. She is survived by three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lou Dean Garrard of Savannah and Betty Essary of Gleason, Tenn.; one brother, Wayne Bingham of Collierville, Tenn. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Ann Akin.
