Leonard Shannon

Leonard Lewis Shannon, 86, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., died Saturday, Jan. 31, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born in Savannah. Mr. Shannon served in World War II, stationed in the Philippines. He moved to Oak Ridge, Tenn. in 1970. He retired from Armstrong Rubber Company. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church and the Masonic Lodge No. 354. Services were on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Oak Ridge. Burial was in Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Arrangements by Jarnigan & Son Mortuary, www.jarnigansmortuary .com. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Shannon of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; sisters, Annie Ruth Coward, Mary Jo Hunter, both of Gary, Ind.; sons. Leonard L. Shannon Jr. of Savannah and Willy L. Williams of Ann Arbor. Mich.; daughters, Deborah Scott and Alfreeda Rupert, both of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father, Con H. Shannon; mother, Nancy Shannon Armstrong; stepfather, Tony Armstrong Jr.; and brother, C.H. Shannon Jr.
