Keith Essary
Specialist Keith Eric Essary, 20, of Dyersburg, Tenn., died Thursday, Jan. 8, in Maiwand district of Kandahar, Afghanistan.
He was the son of Mary Beth and Tony Franks, and Chuck Hall. He was raised by his grandparents, Anita and the late Monty Essary.
Keith was in the United States Army, serving in Afghanistan.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 16, at 3 p.m., at East Dyersburg United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m., in Dyer County High School, in Newbern, Tenn.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Beth Franks and her husband Tony of Savannah; his father, Chuck Hall of Dyersburg; his grandmother, Anita Essary of Dyersburg; five sisters, Bethany Willard, Taylor Clark and Brooke Hall, all of Dyersburg and Patience Smith and Chasity Franks, both of Savannah; a brother, Randy Hall of Dyersburg; and grandmothers, Peggy Winborn of Crump and Lt. Col. Martha Hall of Dyersburg, currently stationed in the U.S. Army in Huntsville, Ala., and Rheba Franks of Savannah.
He was also preceded in death by grandfathers, Vernon "Bear" Winborn and Lucian Roach; and great-grandparents, Sam and Irene Jones Barlow, all of Crump, Dude and Ethel Pierce, and E.B. and Jo Essary, all of Dyersburg.
