James White

James Larry "Possum" White, 66, died on Sunday, Feb. 15. He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Oscar Melvin and Dovie Louise Higgins White. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Phillips, who survives. Mr. White was a retired construction worker, working for ISI installation systems. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Services were held on Feb. 18, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Jason Estes officiating. Burial was in the Graham Cemetery at Hardin County. In addition to his wife Carolyn of Savannah, he is survived by two daughters, Tonya White and Alyon Elam, both of Savannah; one grandson; four sisters, Betty Garner of Virginia, Frances Wiggington of Mississippi, Kathy Broyles of Savannah, and Beauton Sharp of Savannah; one brother, Melvin White of Savannah. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren; one sister, Willadean Smith.
