James DeShazier (3-31-09) services 4-2-09

James Edwards DeShazier, 49, of Savannah, died Tuesday, March 31, at Park Rest Nursing Home in Savannah. He was born in Hardin County, the son of Melvina Murphy Babiec and the late Buster Brown DeShazier. He was united in marriage to Joann Short, who survives. Mr. DeShazier was a carpenter for Temple Chattanooga Box Company. He was of Pentecostal belief. In addition to his wife, Joann of Adamsville, he is survived by one daughter, Susan Flowers of Savannah; three grandchildren; his mother, Melvina Murphy Babiec of Morris Chapel, and his step-father, Dick Babiec of Morris Chapel; four sisters, Cathy Little, Joann Rickman, Nita Scott and Brenda Kill, all of Savannah; four brothers, Virgil, Floyd, David and Carmack DeShazier, all of Savannah; five half-sisters, Beck Wilkerson, Sue Garrard, Shelia Cheades, Amy Slaughter, all of Savannah, and Elzabeth Cruzan of Tampa, Fla.; three half-brothers, Joey, Phillip and Jimmy DeShazier, all of Savannah. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Stacy DeShazier and his grandfather, Arch DeShazier. Services were held on April 2, at Sand Hill Pentecostal Church in Savannah with Larry Vandiver officiating. Burial was in the Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
