Iva Owens

Iva Sue Owens was born in Hardin County, on Sept. 30, 1926, the daughter of the late Bob and Isma Basey Love. On May 21, 1946, she was united in marriage to J.C. Owens, who preceded in her in death on Aug. 17, 1990. Ms. Owens was a charter member of Sharon Baptist Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading cookbooks, and cooking. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ms. Owens departed this life on Thursday, Jan. 22, at the age of 82 years, 3 months, 23 days. Ms. Owens is survived by two sons, Tommy Owens and wife Sandra, and Steve Owens all of Savannah; a sister, Jane Kerr and husband Billy of Savannah; four grandchildren, Lana Silvia and husband Bob, Tina Conaway and husband Jeff, Candy Smith and husband Alan, Chris Owens and wife Sharon; 11 great-grandchildren, Alex Silvia, Aaron Silvia, Lindsay Silvia, Courtney Conaway, Camryn Conaway, Ally Smith, Garrett Smith, Anna Owens, Leah Owens, Sara Owens, and J.C. Owens. In addition to her husband and parents, Ms. Owens was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Love and Kendrick Love; two sisters, Rebecca Love and Hannah Love. Services were held on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 1:30 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Allen Guyer, Dr. Jerry Spencer, Greg Young officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery at Hardin County.
