Geneva Melton

Geneva Melton Henderson, TN: Geneva Carleen Naylor Melton, age 87, died Feb. 16, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was born in McNairy County and reared in Chester County, the daughter of the late Monty Arthur and Mose Annie Kirkpatrick Naylor. She attended school in Chester County and worked on the farm. She was employed in factories in Henderson and Adamsville. She was married to John Herman Bishop and they made their home in Henderson. He preceded in death in 1945. She was later married to Max Ray Melton and they made their home in Henderson. He preceded in death in 1971. She continued to make her home in the Plainview Community. She is survived by a son, Bill Bishop of Suffolk, Va; four daughters, Bonnie Joyce Perkins of Henderson, Geneva Ann Johnson of Adamsville, Gail Lewis of Adamsville and Betty Faye Rogers of Henderson; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a sister, Lessie V. Channell of Tuscaloosa, Ala. She was preceded in death by two sons, John Hughie Bishop who was killed in the Air Force in 1958 and Clifford Ray Melton in 2004, a sister, Montie Mae McEarl, two grandchildren, Dean Johnson and John Robert Crowe and a great grandchild, Zack Slater Rowland. Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 19, at Shackelford-Casey Chapel, with Jimmy Dyer and Paul Garrison officiating with burial in Henderson City Cemetery.
