Billy Joe Gladwin

Billy Joe Gladwin, 72, of Hardin County, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. He was born in Hardin County, son of the late James Carroll and Bessie Mae Dodd Gladwin. He was united in marriage to Betty Sue Prater, who survives. Mr. Gladwin was a sewing machine mechanic, having worked at Dillon, Hickory Hills, Harwood, Cross Country Apparel and Angelica. He was a member of the Full Gospel House of Praise. Services were held Friday, Jan. 2, at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro, with Casey Jones and Joseph Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Prater's Chapel Cemetery at Clifton. Arrangements by Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County. In addition to his wife, Betty Sue Gladwin of Clifton, he is survived by a son, Phillip Gladwin of Clifton; three daughters, Linda Alley, Brenda Wheat, both of Clifton and Susan Brewer of Collinwood, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Bertha Faye Franks of Savannah. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Ruth Gladwin.
