Vernon Robinson Jr.

Vernon L. Robinson Jr., 81, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Savannah, passed away on Dec. 8, after a brief illness. Mr. Robinson was a retired purchasing manager for the City of Savannah and an employee of Tennessee Gas Transmission Company for many years. He was a graduate of Selmer High School, attended Martin Junior College (now U. T. Martin) and served in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Peggy Martin Robinson of Savannah and his parents, Vernon L. Robinson Sr. and Gwynne Crocker Robinson. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Carol Robinson of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Sarah Robinson Twilla of Pinehurst, N.C. and three grandchildren; Ned Robinson, Linley Robinson and Parks Robinson. The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah on Friday, Dec. 19, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 20.
