Marcus (Curly) Pannell
Marcus (Curly) Pannell, of Adamsville, was born in Walnut, Miss. on Nov. 4, 1935, the son of the late Mansel and Mary Lela Pickens Pannell.
Mr. Pannell was a retired construction foreman. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Pannell was also a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and playing harmonica. Mr. Pannell was an ace pool player and was a big cut up, he joked all the time.
He departed this life on Friday, Dec. 12, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 8 days.
Mr. Pannell is survived by three daughters, Harvetta Williams of Adamsville, Danita Wright of Adamsville and Holly Walker of Seiverville, Tenn.; two sons, Marcus Verne Pannell of Seiverville, Tenn. and Brandon Kane Pannell of Adamsville; 12 grandchildren, Chelsea G. Townsend, Cody Williams, Colton Williams, Karessa Wright, Kanesha Wright, Tristan Pannell, Keaton Pannell, Noah Walker, Dustyn Walker, Kaiya Walker, Allan Pannell and Logan Pannell; four sisters, Ophelia Porterfield, Jettie Wilbanks, Nancy Settlemires and Mary Lee Richerson, all of Walnut, Miss.; two brothers, M. P. and Mack Pannell, both of Walnut, Miss.
Other than his parents, Mr. Pannell was also preceded in death by one daughter, Chrystal Townsend and five brothers, Buster, Doll, Clyde, Bill and James Vernon Pannell.
Services were held on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 1:30 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Adamsville with Robert Howse officiating. Burial was in the Old Union Cemetery at Adamsville.
