Burl H. Shackelford, 96, of Saltillo, died Friday, Oct. 23, in Savannah.

He was born in Madison County, Tenn., the son of the late Robert and Ellie Williams Shackelford. He was united in marriage to Allie Lucille Thompson Delaney, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Shackelford retired from the US Navy after serving for 22 years, 3 months. He was a member of the Saltillo Baptist Church and the Memphis Shriners.

Services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Saltillo First Baptist Church in Saltillo with Skippy Rowland officiating. Burial was in the Shady Grove Cemetery at Saltillo.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Betty Holland of Knoxville; three stepsons, Jimmy Delaney of Saltillo, Robert Delaney of Scotts Hill, David Delaney of Saltillo; a brother, Robert G. (Bob) Shackelford of Jackson, Tenn.; nine step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leland Shackelford and Bill Shackelford; three sisters, Aline Townsend, Ruth Armstrong, and Annie Louise Shackelford.
