Hank Williams Jr. to make “Popcorn’’ Sutton’s shine
Country music’s Hank Williams Jr. will have a hand in distilling famed Appalachian moonshiner Marvin ``Popcorn’’ Sutton’s liquor.Williams, Sutton’s widow Pam Sutton and J&M Concepts have announced plans to produce a legal version of Sutton’s recipe under the name Popcorn Sutton’s Tennessee White Whiskey.
Sutton died in 2009 and Williams attended a memorial for him. Pam Sutton said her husband took his own life, rather than go to prison.
Williams and his partners said they intend to produce the liquor by hand in individual batches, with sales to begin in Middle Tennessee.
In a news release, Williams said Sutton was part of the “Thunder Road’’ legend and called that a part of country music history.
