Jackson police officer shot making arrest
Two western Tennessee police officers were being treated for injuries sustained in a shooting and fight as they attempted to arrest a burglary suspect.Jackson Police Chief Gill Kendrick said in a statement that officer Mark Headen was in good condition and stable after being shot in the left forearm early Sunday morning. Kendrick says doctors were treating officer Thomas Brea for an eye injury.
The two were injured while arresting 24-year-old Christopher Lance Osteen of Palmersville at a store at 2:50 a.m. Sunday. Kendrick says the officers responded to a burglary alarm at a store and found Osteen, who is also wanted in Fulton County, Ky., on misdemeanor and felony theft warrants.
Kendrick says the officers wrestled with Osteen, who fired one shot, striking Headen. Kendrick says Osteen was treated for suffered minor facial injuries.
