Wamp campaigned during financial reform vote
Tennessee gubernatorial hopeful U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp campaigned in Memphis as the House voted on a financial services reform bill.During the GOP primary, Wamp, R-Tenn., has been criticized by tea party activists for his vote for the 2008 Wall Street bailout.
Wamp’s office, in a statement issued Friday, said the congressman’s presence would not have affected the outcome of the vote, so he continued with his schedule.
The statement also said Wamp had flights booked to return to Washington, D.C., if his vote was needed.
The financial services bill passed 237-192 on a mostly party-line vote.
