Andrew Jackson VI has fun with name
A Knoxville judge gets the same response almost every time he’s introduced. His new acquaintance says: “Andrew Jackson? I thought you were dead!’’
Such is life for Andrew Jackson VI, the great-great-great grandson of the seventh president.
The 54-year-old Jackson says he gets “lots of fun’’ out of his famous name. For his ancestor’s birthday celebration last week at The Hermitage, he signed fake $20 bills.
Like his namesake, Jackson has had a long career in the law, first as a prosecutor and now as a General Sessions court judge. But the two differ in one important respect.
The first Andrew Jackson is regarded as the father of the modern Democratic Party.
Jackson the sixth says he’s a Republican.
